The Mission Enabling Products (MEP) Business Unit within the Intelligence Systems Division of Northrop Grumman is in search of an NDI Inspector 2 to join our team on 2nd Shift (1:00 pm – 10:30 pm) in San Diego.

The MEP Business Unit designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include satellites and associated space components and services, launch vehicles and related propulsion systems, missile products, subsystems and defense electronics, precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition, and advanced aerospace structures.

The successful candidate will perform non-destructive tests (NDT) on components. Inspects metallic and non-metallic materials, parts and assemblies for defects using automated and manual methods and techniques including ultrasound, radiography, penetrant, eddy current, laser shearography, and magnetic particles. Requires certifications in non-destructive testing in accordance with regulations.

 

Job Summary:

  • NDT Inspection of component parts and assemblies in support of manufacturing, fabrication, test and receiving inspection.
  • Perform duties with minimal supervision
  • Operate C-Scan and A-Scan (Ultrasonic) equipment following established procedures.
  • Perform Shearography tests, Level II NAS-410 certification required
  • Develop NDI procedures and technique sheets
  • Interface with other sources, i.e., functional areas, customers, source personnel and government representatives for acceptance of hardware at required inspection points. Perform other duties as required.
  • Dimensional inspection of simple components and assemblies
  • Excellent attendance, ability to work overtime, and other shifts as required

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma and 2 years of related experience in Non Destructive Testing
  • Current Level II Ultrasonic NDT Certification is required and ability to provide records of this is a necessity
  • Use of small hand tools and measuring devices, i.e. calipers, micrometers, height gauges
  • Perform physical requirements of the position, including use of hand tools, lift 25 lbs., pass eye examination.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; good penmanship.
  • Excellent computer skills, multi-tasking ability and work as part of a team

 

 

 

Primary Level Salary Range: $54,400.00 – $90,600.00 

 

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions. 

 

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
