Entry-Level NDT Professional

Requisition Number: 2026-1350-12

S&ME is looking for a motivated and hard-working individual eager to pursue a career in non-destructive testing and evaluations as an NDT/NDE Professional, to join our team in Charlotte, North Carolina.

As an entry-level NDT Professional, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the structural integrity and safety of our projects by visually inspecting structural steel, including bolted and welded connections. You'll be engaged in fieldwork testing as well as supporting office administration tasks such as scheduling, making travel arrangements, and supporting additional field staff and project managers in the construction service line.

Your Day-to-Day:

Inspection and Non-Destructive Testing: Conduct inspections and deploy non-destructive testing methods to uphold impeccable quality standards. A significant portion of field inspection time is spent performing non-destructive testing (NDT) duties such as ultrasonic inspection (UT) of welds and/or magnetic particle testing (MT) of welds.
Project Testing Assignments: Juggle testing assignments across projects, contributing to the success of each endeavor.
Equipment Maintenance and Calibration: Maintain testing equipment in working order and calibration; can include managing field and laboratory equipment inventories, formal calibration records, and participating in quality systems audits.
Report Creation: Craft detailed reports to effectively communicate findings.
Administrative: Support the NDT and Construction Services teams with project assignments, deadlines, scheduling changes, and other office responsibilities related to meeting project deliverables.
This position may require working 50+ hours per week (during periods of peak workload), as well as off-shift and weekend work, as needed. Experience in Safety, DDC, NDT, and Radiation Training, including the use of fall protection equipment and personal fall arrest systems, is a plus.

What You Bring:

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in engineering or the construction field
0-2 years of experience in welding or construction materials testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt
The desire and willingness to obtain at least one (1) industry certification within 6 months of employment
Basic math and communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment, such as:
