Job Description

Kern Energy is hiring a Refinery Inspector who is responsible for conducting inspections, assessing equipment, and implementing preventive maintenance programs to uphold the highest industry standards. The qualified candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and operational efficiency of our refinery facilities. Job Function

Conduct visual inspections of refinery equipment, including vessels, piping systems, tanks, and valves, using specialized tools and equipment to identify potential defects, cracks, leaks, or other abnormalities.
Review non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques such as ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing, and magnetic particle testing to detect defects or cracks that may not be visible to the naked eye.
Apply principles, theories, and concepts required through routine and non-routine tasks.
Analyze data and test results to identify potential problems or areas of improvement in equipment or processes.
Provide Recommended corrective actions to ensure safe and efficient operation of refinery equipment and facilities.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, testing results, and corrective actions taken.
Work closely with refinery operators and maintenance personnel to ensure that equipment is properly maintained and repaired as needed.
Conduct tests and calibrations on equipment and instrumentation to ensure accurate measurements and optimal performance.
Be prepared to respond to emergency situations or incidents promptly and effectively, ensuring the safety of personnel and the environment.
Stay up-to-date on industry standards and regulations related to refinery inspection and testing.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the reliability and efficiency of refinery operations. Identify opportunities for process optimization.
Qualifications
Knowledge Skills

Strong understanding of refinery equipment and processes, as well as industry standards and regulations related to refinery inspection and testing.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify potential problems and recommend effective solutions.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to maintain detailed records and documentation.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with refinery personnel and management.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to safety and quality.
Education/ Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in refinery inspection and testing required.
Certification in non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques such as ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing, and magnetic particle testing is required.
API 510, 570, 653 experience preferred.
