Job Description

MFE Inspection Solutions is a leading provider of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) equipment, offering sales, rentals, repairs, calibrations, and training across NDT, Remote Visual Inspection, environmental, and unmanned systems technologies. Backed by more than 30 years of industry expertise and a network of regional repair and calibration centers, MFE serves many of the world's most demanding industrial, energy, and infrastructure organizations.

The Quality Control Manager will lead and manage MFE's Repairs & Calibration Department from our Houston office, owning the repair and calibration workflows, quality systems, and accuracy compliance standards of equipment repairs and calibrations, to streamline quality control procedures for the company. This role ensures that all equipment meets internal quality standards, manufacturer specifications, and applicable industry requirements before being returned to service or released to the customer.

The primary responsibility and focus of this position are the development, implementation, documentation, and ongoing maintenance of calibration procedures and quality processes for new and existing equipment, documentation, and records; technician oversight, and continuous improvement efforts for the equipment service operations. This position partners with other departments in the company to implement and maintain quality control programs, standards, policies, and procedures, ensuring that all equipment and materials are delivered to customers operationally and reliably, meeting the necessary quality standards for continued operation.

Responsibilities, not limited to

Leadership and Development

  • Define and track key quality metrics to assess performance and identify trends. Generate reports and analysis on quality performance, highlighting areas of improvement and recommending corrective actions to management. Present findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance the quality mindset and equipment competencies of employees.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff regarding quality control procedures, best practices, and quality management tools. Foster a culture of quality awareness and accountability throughout the organization.

Quality Standards and Performance Management

  • Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to evaluate and manage supplier quality. This involves establishing supplier quality standards, conducting supplier audits, and addressing quality-related supplier issues to ensure that suppliers meet quality requirements and take appropriate measures to resolve deviations.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of repair and calibration technicians and service staff, fostering a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Stay up to date with relevant regulations, industry standards, and compliance requirements related to quality control. Ensure that the organization meets all applicable regulatory and certification requirements. Coordinate with regulatory bodies and participate in audits or inspections as necessary.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with other departments, such as production, engineering, supply chain, and customer service, to ensure alignment and integration of quality control processes. Work closely with these teams to address quality issues, resolve customer complaints, and implement corrective actions.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for enhancing quality and efficiency. Implement methodologies that result in quality improvement frameworks to streamline repair and calibration processes, reduce waste, and drive overall quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a customer-centric approach by monitoring customer feedback, conducting customer satisfaction surveys to address customer needs, improving product or service quality, and enhancing the overall customer experience.

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive quality management system to ensure equipment repairs and calibrations adhere to quality standards, regulations, and customer requirements. and maintaining documentation related to quality management.
  • Develop, define quality control process standards to monitor, evaluate, and enforce regulations, product, or repair service quality through management procedures. Conduct routine audits and perform analysis to identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain quality assurance procedures to ensure that products, services, or processes consistently meet or exceed quality standards. This includes conducting quality reviews, validating compliance with specifications, and addressing non-conformities through corrective and preventive actions.
  • The ability to perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills

  • Advanced experience with the repair, calibration, and/or operation of NDT inspection equipment, ultrasonic flaw detectors and thickness gauges, eddy current and ACFM instruments, MFL scanners, hardness testers, holiday/porosity testers, infrared cameras, or related instrumentation.
  • Proficiency with ERP, CRM, service tracking, or calibration management systems preferred; proficiency in calibration principles, measurement traceability, measurement uncertainty, and acceptance criteria.
  • Extensive experience with quality tools, including root cause analysis, corrective/preventive action, nonconformance management, and continuous improvement methodologies.

  • The work environment will be on-site at the Houston office, 6025 Fairmont Parkway, Pasadena, TX 77505.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in science or a business degree. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in NDT equipment repair, calibration, inspection, or related technical service work. Experience with ultrasonic, magnetic particle, radiographic, penetrant, eddy current, or related NDT equipment. 5+ years of ASNT Level II or Level III experience in one or more methods are highly valued.
  • Extensive proficiency and knowledge of products, procedures, and documentation; supervisory or training experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and time management to coordinate multiple priorities in a fast-paced technical environment.
